4:30. Cannot sleep to save my life. That's about what it comes down to. Classes start again tomorrow. I'm so screwed.
One more blizzard before spring, weather gods. Please?

Bowling Green has the worst hockey announcers since the guy who called Musatelli "Mussolini".
Apparently, when the game is 7-1 you're still okay. But when it goes to 8-1 the rout is on.

Okay, that's it.
I have come to the conclusion that every RPG needs a 'nuke from orbit' skill. Start patching, people. And Crow's Rock Castle will be the first damned thing to go.

(Bonus points to anyone who actually gets that reference.)

AquaLion: Yeesh. I really want to say this term paper is a clear example of me hitting a new low... but...
AquaLion: then I remember the one I wrote comparing the English Civil War to Harry Potter...
AquaLion: or comparing Oliver Cromwell and Victor Davion...
sircrackpot: Its not
AquaLion: or discussing gender stereotypes of Scooby Doo...
AquaLion: or for that matter, using Scooby Doo to illustrate the changing views of heroism...
sircrackpot: ...even close...
AquaLion: and I realize that dammit, this one's the most normal freaking paper I've written

I have hit a new fanfictional low.
Low enough that I won't even admit it here. Not directly, anyway. If anyone's bored and wants to guess, though...
It's a crossover between two shows.
Both shows star dogs.
Both shows involve finding clues.
And the names of the shows rhyme with each other.
I really need to stop listening to every bunny that comes along and smacks me upside the head...
And yet, it's gonna be awesome!

Making buckeyes is a pain in the ass. Especially three batches at once.
It's also one of the most mind-numbing uses of an afternoon I can think of. So I kept myself amused... by shaping one like an ornament ("just leave the toothpick in to look like the string!"), one like a pig's head ("SWINE FLU!"), one like a chicken (they say I have ADD, but they just... oh look, a chicken!), one like a candle (griping about church Christmas Eve traditions), and one like a bunny.
Mom's decided she's getting me silly putty for Christmas.

A side note; rolling buckeye mix makes your hands disgusting and sticky. Then trying to wash it off makes your hands disgusting and slimy. It's no wonder other states haven't picked this up.

"There's a Pikachu balloon in the Macy's parade. Before that they had a... Poke ball?... it was just a big round ball, but it had something to do with Pokemon."
Why yes, I did proceed to tell my mother exactly what a Poke Ball is, and mock her for not recognizing what's probably the most important item in the Pokemon universe. Not that there's any reason she should've known, but that's not the point.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Listening To: Don't Stop Believin' (Flight 409)

So the Miami basketball goes to the legendary Rupp Arena, jumps out to an 18-point lead on #4 Kentucky, plays 8v5 for most of the second half, hangs in it the whole time rather than collapsing in the last 5 minutes like last season, and loses on a buzzer-beater. A buzzer-beater. UK had to win on a BUZZER-BEATER. IN THEIR OWN GYM.
And here we had some people *cough Grandma* writing the season off after losing to Towson State. Sheesh. I'm still shaking and all I did was watch the damn game on TV.
Miami basketball... a heart attack every 40 minutes or it's free... and sometimes TOTALLY worth it.

Side note- It probably says something about my sports confusion that at the end, I was trying to simultaneously hum "Don't Stop Believin" (which has strong hockey, not basketball, connotations for me, long story) and yell "Win it for Frerichs!"
Plus secretly hoping a benchwarmer would get put in to take the final shot on the assumption UK wouldn't guard someone who never plays... then again, I hope that for 40 minutes every game.

Another side note- apparently this is "wear someone else's shirt weekend" (see post below). Miami's #1 was wearing #00 for at least part of the game, for reasons I have no clue on. And yes, the team actually has a #00, though he's redshirted this season.

Lessons learned at the hockey game last night:
Shegos is terrible. (We actually knew that already, but it bears repeating.)
Shootout enthusiasm can only be sustained for about seven rounds. After that it's just getting old.
It's all fun and games until a zebra gets his jaw broken... again.

So yeah. Miami and Ferris State set a CCHA record with an 11-round shootout. And the final shootout score was... 2-1. Ferris State's coach put it best: that was either good goaltending or bad shooting, so let's go with good goaltending.
He also doesn't think it's fair that you can play 130 minutes of even hockey and come away with more points than the other team because of the shootout, and this is interesting because his team won both of them. I like this guy!
So for the first three rounds, the whole arena was screaming. And when the shootout was tied at the end of the first three rounds and went into sudden death rounds, everyone got even louder.
And by about the seventh or eighth round, it had gotten a lot quieter. I'm not sure if it's because we all had sore throats (tho I know I did) or because we all just wanted to go home. And then the defensemen started taking shots and we were just too busy laughing at how ridiculous things had gotten.
I'm not a big fan of the theory behind shootouts, but dammit, they're fun to watch!
